The Salsnes Filter is pre-engineered, very compact and easy to install and operate. There are four models to choose from based on capacity requirements. The filters are made of high quality materials that are designed for long service life.

The filter structures are made from 304 stainless steel while the wire cloth is made from Kevlar-coated polyurethane (other materials are available).

(1) Model SF1000 has an integral air blower within the filter enclosure.
(2) Capacities shown are based on municipal sewage using a 300 micron screen. The capacity is significantly higher on diluted wastewater.

BENEFITS

The following benefits can be achieved using a Salsnes Filter:

Reduced Costs
The capital and operating cost is substantially less than traditional pre-treatment and primary sedimentation. There are also substantial cost savings associated with a drastically reduced footprint.

Proven, Reliable, Pre-Engineered Systems
All systems are pre-engineered and may be available in stock. Upon order of a new system it is possible to select the orientation of nozzles, etc to best fit into the facility.
Several communities in North America are proceeding with the installation of Salsnes filters.

Small Footprint
One of the most obvious benefits to this new technology is the drastic improvement in footprint. A single compact Salsnes Filter (app. 100” x 100”) can process up to 160 L/sec (13,800m3/d) at 250mg/L TSS using a 250 micron wire cloth. The other advantage of a very small footprint is the ability to retrofit an existing facility and significantly improve performance without major changes to the existing infrastructure.

Modularity
The use of modular filters allows a municipality to increase capacity as required by adding more filters as the population demand requires. For redundancy, a 100% spare unit can be installed that will act as a backup and will also serve to handle peak loads.

Lease & Warranty - No Risk
Aqua-Pure has several filters available for leasing. A trailer-mounted lease unit can be installed and the results evaluated. If the filter meets (and likely exceeds) expectations, it can be purchased or another filter can be ordered. If the system does not meet expectations it can be returned with no risk to the customer.

Aqua-Pure stands by all Salsnes equipment and provides a standard 1 year warranty. We have service personnel available to trouble-shoot and offer advice.

In addition, Aqua-Pure has an extensive list of references in North America from municipalities (and engineering consultants) that have installed and tested the Salsnes Filter.

Superior Performance
The Salsnes Filter provides the most cost effective mechanical separation in the market. The filter is very effective at cleaning the wire cloth while maintaining a high capacity. The sludge produced is very dry and the compact unit provides a very high reduction in suspended solids.

Reduced Odour
Effluent and sludge are removed prior to anaerobic digestion resulting in a dramatic reduction in odour generation compared to traditional sewage treatment processes.

Increased Secondary Treatment Capacity
Salsnes Filters remove a large portion of the suspended solids from sewage. This results in a significant decrease in the BOD and TSS of the sewage going to secondary treatment. Therefore a smaller secondary treatment system is required or the capacity of an existing system can be increased.

Reduced Sludge Production
By removing a large portion of the solids entering a secondary treatment system, Salsnes Filters are able to significantly reduce the amount of waste activated sludge produced. In some cases, WAS production has been reduced by over 80%. This results in large reductions in WAS handling expenses.
