Aqua-Pure Ventures is pleased to announce that the Salsnes Filter was selected for primary wastewater treatment onboard the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s vessel, “Enchantment of the Seas”. Aqua-Pure was issued a purchase order for two units. The compact Salsnes Filter design is an ideal solution for onboard primary wastewater treatment systems. Aqua-Pure anticipates that successful operation of these units will lead to further opportunities in this market segment.
NOVEMBER 2004 Aqua-Pure Ventures Inc. is pleased to announce the receipt of a purchase order for a Salsnes Filter for the District of Sparwood, BC for use in the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) there. The Salsnes Filter will provide primary sewage treatment and assist with dewatering waste-activated sludge (WAS) produced at the plant. The decision to purchase the unit was largely based on results from tests carried out at the Enderby WWTP. The tests determined the Salsnes Filter is able to remove and dewater solid material from a mixture of WAS and untreated sewage. Results indicated a high removal and dewatering efficiency of WAS without impacting primary treatment. The produced mixed solids have a high solids content, and are easy to handle and transport, which will lead to long-term savings. Similar results have also been found through testing at the Lillooet BC, WWTP.
OCTOBER 2004Aqua-Pure Ventures Inc. is pleased to announce the receipt of a purchase order for a second Salsnes Filter for the District of Lillooet, BC. The second filter will provide redundancy and dewater waste-activated sludge (WAS) produced at the plant. It will also assist in coping with primary sewage treatment during peak flows. The decision to purchase the second unit was largely based on results of tests carried out by employees of CH2M HILL and Aqua-Pure. The tests determined the Salsnes Filter is able to remove and dewater solid material from a mixture of WAS and untreated sewage. Results indicated a high removal and dewatering efficiency of WAS without impacting primary treatment. The produced mixed solids have a high solids content, and are easy to handle and transport, which will lead to long term savings for the District of Lillooet.
JULY 2004 Aqua-Pure Ventures Inc. is pleased to announce the successful start-up of a municipal wastewater treatment system at Lillooet, British Columbia. Lillooet (332 km north of Vancouver) is in the process of replacing its 35-year-old primary sewage treatment plant. This will allow the district to increase its allowable discharge of suitable effluent into the Fraser River. Wastewater management and treatment for 2,050 residents will be improved, and the risk of contamination in nearby waterways reduced. This project will allow for growth in both the district and the First Nations lands. Aqua-Pure replaced the existing system with a Salsnes SF-2000 Filter, which was brought on line successfully.
MAY 2004 Salsnes NA and Aqua-Pure are pleased to announce that testing of the Salsnes Fine Screen Filter for the Capital Regional District (CRD) of British Columbia commenced May 10, 2004. The CRD encompasses the City of Victoria and the surrounding area. Based on the results that have been achieved at other Salsnes Filter installations, Aqua-Pure is confident that this technology will provide an effective solution for their primary treatment requirements. The Salsnes unit installed for the City of Enderby has been operating continuously since January. The analytical results have met or exceeded expectations. Mr. Alf Soros, Public Works Superintendent for the City of Enderby, states, “We have been very pleased with the operation of the Salsnes Fine Screen Filter. It is very user friendly, requiring minimal operator intervention other than routine maintenance. Incorporating the Salsnes Filter in our wastewater treatment plant has increased the overall capacity by approximately 50% and eliminated our difficulties with handling waste activated sludge.
MARCH 2004 Salsnes NA and Aqua-Pure has been awarded a contract to provide the Salsnes fine screen filter for primary wastewater treatment at the Town of Lilooet, British Columbia. The management at Aqua-Pure is confident that with each new installation, future clients will become more at ease with utilizing the Salsnes technology.
FEBRUARY 2004 Salsnes NA and Aqua-Pure has been selected to demonstrate the Salsnes Fine Screen Technology for the C.R.D. (City of Victoria and area). The C.R.D. currently provides coarse screening to their wastewater prior to discharge. The use of the Salsnes would provide a level of treatment exceeding conventional primary treatment within a very compact area. A Salsnes Fine Screen measuring just 102” long by 107” wide by 65” high can provide treatment for 2.7 million gallons per day. Testing will be conducted under the supervision of Stantec Consulting Engineers. Stantec is one of the largest Consulting Firms in Canada and provide consulting services for wastewater treatment to numerous municipalities throughout Canada.
JANUARY 2004 Salsnes NA and Aqua-Pure announces the appointment of Mr. Ian Middleton as Marketing Director for its Sewage Treatment division. Mr. Middleton’s top priority will be the marketing of our compact cost effective sewage treatment technology. Ian’s initial focus will be Western Canada where numerous prospective opportunities have been identified. Mr. Middleton is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering.
NOVEMBER 2003 Salsnes and Aqua Pure proudly introduce the new “Salsnes North America” webpage - www.salsnes.com. This webpage contains valuable information and links to resources and contacts at Salsnes.
NOVEMBER 2003 A new Salsnes SF1000 is added to the North American demonstration fleet. For details, please contact Harold Lauman [info@salsnes.com]. This small self-contained system is ideal for primary sewage treatment for small communities, resorts, construction camps, etc. It can also be used to determine the suitability of the technology for any customer.
The
first North American commercial Salsnes system is installed
in the city of Enderby, British Columbia (Canada) by
Aqua Pure. The Salsnes SF4000 system is completely packaged
in a process building for
simple tie-in at the existing facility. The use of a Salsnes
system allows Enderby to increase their plant capacity and
vastly reduce
the
volume
of Waste Activated Sludge (WAS) requiring disposal.
